Preserving and improving our state’s natural environment through sustainable grazing and beef production to make California more resilient.

OUR STORY

California cattle ranchers produce the most environmentally sustainable beef in the world.

From sophisticated rangeland management that improves our environment to producers certified by the Beef Quality Assurance program, California ranchers feed the world the most humane and environmentally sustainable beef.

Likewise, California rangelands are the backbone of our state’s ecosystem, providing naturally managed open space for thousands of species, both endangered and non-endangered. These species and ecosystems are thriving—not despite centuries of grazing—but because they are grazed. Preserving these open spaces is the legacy and future of every ranching family in California.

RANCHER TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Rancher Technical Assistance Program (RTAP) helps ranchers stay ahead of the latest regulatory requirements by providing technical assistance to ranchers, enabling them to understand and navigate complex regulatory, environmental and business issues. Ranchers can receive assistance from this program at no cost.

What Producers Are Saying About Their Experience with RTAP

“I reached out to the Rancher Technical Assistance Program and was provided with specific information about my SB 88 water measurement and reporting question. The compliance process was explained and resources and links were sent to me. I recommend RTAP to any rancher with regulatory compliance questions.”

— A.G., Inyo County

“The RTAP team did an excellent job of explaining stockpond registrations and their regulations. They helped clarify how the State Water Board defines a stockpond.”

— M.S., Siskiyou County
